What are
They?
Since I am such a fan of Deloreans and back to the future, how could I
pass up the chance to build a model of one! This should be
fun! The models are from Japan, and are EXTREMELY detailed!
There is an ERTL/AMT model kit for the BTTF2 car, I am told it is
just as nice, but it was the only one released in the US. The
company who makes the Japanese model is ASHOMIA. There
are models of the Delorean from each of the 3 Movies. There are 4
models in all. *
Lightning Rod Delorean from BTTF1
* Mr. Fusion and Hover wheel Delorean from BTTF2 (Wheels flip!
COOL!)
* White wall tire Delorean from BTTF3 with time circuit on hood (Not my
favorite...but what they hell)
* Railroad Delorean from BTTF3 (I totally hate this one. Did not buy
it, and it also seems to be very rare) Where
I got my models:
I got all 3 (not the railroad one) for what I thought was a bargain price
of $150 from the Yahoo Auction. What a steal for an imported model
from JAPAN! I started to research how to paint model professionally,
and in my research for paints and brushes, I came across a train shop near
my house who's owner told me he could order me the same models for $25 a
piece. CHECK AROUND BEFORE YOU BUY THEM! UPDATE!!!
Here are some links for getting the model DIRT CHEEP! The place is in Japan, but the models will only cost you $18 each....And the company is REALLY reliable!

from the Masters:
I got a lot of good tips from
www.culttvman.com.
check it our if you are into models, or want to get into it. very
helpful site! Tools
of the Trade:
*Good thing I had an airbrush from my
artistic days in HS and College! It makes all the difference.
Otherwise it would have been more than $300 to get a compressor and an
airbrush!
*$57 in paints, brushes, masking tape, and new airbrush tips
*Newspaper and razor blades to keep desk clean, and for cutting tape (also
for when I go nuts from putting it together, I can slit my wrists, and
blame it on the stock market so that Deloreans don't get a bad name)
*Good lighting and a magnifier glass
*Electronic assembly clamps to hold small parts My
Time invested so far:
So far, I have only started to put together the BTTF3 car. I figured
that since it is my least favorite one, if I mess it up...OH
WELL!!!! and I can learn from my mistakes. It
took me over 100 hours to complete my model. I tried to
detail it the best that I can. I have only 2 spots that did not come
out well. One is the keypad on the dashboard. The second is
the white wall tires. These were a pain in the ass to do. Pictures:
